I had a ktm 690 enduro r and it was definitely better offroad but onroad it's no comparison, T7 is a better all around bike imo. If you weren't doing any highway riding and just wanted something barely street legal it would be a different answer. If I was choosing a bike to ride around the world on the T7 would be on the short list.
Here is a video of the codes and the bike back at my garage. The codes showing are. F light. 1st set 6 short: Input signal from throttle valvesensor too low/high. 2nd set 8 short: Input signal from throttle gripsensor too low/high. 3rd set, 9 short: Input signal from pressure sensor of induction manifold too low/high.
Second is almost the same, third is between third and fourth of the KTM, same with fourth gear and as you can see, fifth of the BMW is taller than sixth of the KTM. At race pace on the track, the 6 speed of the KTM would win, but in the real world, with a slower rider (ME), the BMW’s gearing is better.
Wife used to commute on her 640 Adv (later converted to a 640E front fairing for that dirtbike on 'roids feel) for years. Can't image the 690 is less sophisticated ; > She now runs an F800R, but same commute though - app. 90km 1-way if highway (rarely) and 110km if takes twisty 2-lane (99.99% of time).

Setting up my 2013 USDM enduro R for a 5000 mile trip from SoCal to Banff, down CDT to Mexican border and back to Socal. I'm maybe 210lbs with riding gear, adding RR 9.5L aux tanks and should have about 50-60lbs of gear on the tail centered around a GL Coyote bag. I'm an intermediate level rider but we'll be riding conservatively on this trip.
Oddometer: 736. Location: San Diego. Out of curiosity, I took it apart to change from 24mm to 22mm Offset. This would be the 24mm setting. Bottom Triple allows for 180 degree rotation. Gotta remove the bottom 20mm screw to release the stem from bottom triple clamp. Have only ridden the new 22mm setting on the street.
More detailed instructions below on reinstalling or repairing rear turn signals on KTM 690 Enduro R turn signals. Remove the screw in the turn signal assembly (size 1 Phillips screwdriver). Remove clear lens. Gently remove rear reflector/light as wiring is attached. Push black turn signal assembly onto mount.
