The biggest drawback on the Jeep Hemi's is the crappy exhaust log manifolds, along with a heavy, restrictive cat. back. See pix below of the collectors off a 5.7 Jeep logs (left), a 5.7 Dodge/Chrysler logs (center) and my first set of custom headers on the right. Also, when you remove the MDS, you'll get DTC's and MIL's indicating it is not
2012 5.7 Oil Leak. Recently bought a 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 5.7 hemi. It appears to drip oil toward the back of the engine, seems a bit to the passenger side, at least that’s where the oil ends up on the ground. I’m planning to get under there this evening and take a look but wanted to ask if there is any known suspect area’s
Haven't had to replace the one on either the '98 Grand with the 4.0 or the '07 with the 5.7. On the 5.7 when I hook up the Autel to it, I usually get 20 psi hot oil pressure readings. On the 4.0 once in a blue moon it will read a little low and just disconnecting the electrical connector & reconnecting it seems to correct that, so it could be a

B. Big Daddy 1 · #9 · Mar 12, 2023. My 5.7 l Hemi is in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. It started running in limp mode a few days ago and I took it to the local auto parts store. They ran a scan on it. The scan showed it has a bad MDS solenoid and it has a miss in one of the cylinders.
My 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee needs to have the head gasket replaced and water pump. It is under 60,000 miles (59,400) but 5 1/2 years old. Jeep is not honoring the warrantee since it is over 5 years old. This is a very expensive repair. Any thoughts or advice? Is this common problem with Jeeps? Should I get rid of car? I’m wondering if more problems will appear.
I purchased a 2005 Grand Cherokee 5.7 that "needed a head gasket" for very cheap. Upon further inspection it dropped two valve seats. One on cylinder 1, one on cylinder 8. At this point I should have decided to put in another engine.. unfortunately I didn't. Cylinder 1s seat got stuck and did not touch or damage the piston.
